Hands-on-
Exhibitions

The annual hands-on exhibition aims to promote knowledge, creativity, critical thinking and independence in thought and action. The exhibitions make topics from science, art, everyday culture and architecture tangible and perceptible for children aged 6 to 12.

Caution! Construction Area

A hands-on exhibition for children from 6 to 12

The children put on their work clothes and their rubber boots, don their helmets, follow the safety rules, and off they go!
Running time:
  • 29. September 2011 - 19. February 2012
At ZOOM’s Construction Area they can join in the building as a bricklayer, a carpenter, a roofer, or a crane operator, by measuring, bricklaying, plastering walls, placing stones, building an attic, roofing, or operating the crane with precision. You’ll discover what steps are necessary and which professions are required to erect a building, and you will can experiment with different tools, construction techniques, and materials. Draw up your own plan for a building, test your own models for bridges and high rise constructions with vibration and weight tests, discover how animals build and how we have learned from animal architects. And because a real construction site is quite loud, you can provide a cool construction site groove using wastewater and drainage pipes.
