ZOOM Science
Science education for children
What do flies, mice and humans have in common? And how does the music get onto the CD? Children ask lots of questions like these. Their curiosity and thirst for knowledge often seems insatiable. Thats a good thing because curiosity is the motivation for all learning and the driving force behind scientific research.
The programmes of ZOOM Childrens Museum - exhibitions, ZOOM Lab, Studio, lecture series for children - have always placed special emphasis on conveying knowledge through play. The aim was always to offer children access to scientific research from a very young age and to stimulate their interest in the questions and methods of science. It is previous activities such as these that ZOOMs new initiative, ZOOM Science, which is all about introducing children to science, will serve to bring together, strengthen and further expand on.
The childrens area of ZOOMs website thus includes a Science Portal, which presents stimulating up-to-date topics from the sciences, technology as well as the humanities in a child-friendly format.
To promote independent learning, ZOOM provides a weblog platform, ZOOMblox: Here the children can start their own weblogs or ask experts questions in ZOOMs Science Weblog.
